Television’s Top 25 Country Music Moments

Country music has been a part of television since the beginning of the medium in the late 1940s. Shows like The Old Barn Dance and Louisiana Hayride featured live performances from Patsy Montana and Elvis Presley, and a 1954 appearance on I Love Lucy transformed Tennessee Ernie Ford from a local radio and TV personality to a national star.

Sadly, country music and cowboy music are no longer synonymous. With Hollywood-polished country singers dominating the airwaves, traditional Western music can be difficult to find. These three singers, pulled from the Media Review page of American Cowboy are keeping the tradition alive.

A Taste of Colorado

Festivalgoers also can try a variety of culinary delights from more than 50 of Colorado's favorite food establishments, including a fine dining area and culinary showcase. Plus, visitors can enjoy the offerings of more than 280 marketplace artisans and vendors, as well as educational programs promoting the diverse cultural and Western heritage of the region. It is scheduled for Wednesday through Saturday, June 15 - 18. The gates open at 5:30 p.m. each night, and the action begins at 8:00 p.m. This year's specialty act is The One Arm Bandit. Frontier RevueThe must-see musical of western Nebraska's frontier heritage performed by local talent is scheduled for Monday through Thursday, June 13 - 16, 2011, at the North Platte Community College Theatre. There is comedy, dancing, and fun with an all-original score written by the late Dr. James Thayer of Sidney, Nebraska. Tim Vanderheiden directs the Revue - a family event for young and old. Tickets are available online, at the NLD Office, or at the door. Adult tickets are $8.00 with children tickets only $5.00 for the 8:00 p.m. show. All taxes and fees are included in the price. Join us for the U.S. Cellular Summer Jam Concert SeriesThe Country Music Association's Entertainer of the Year and American Music Award winner for Favorite Country Music Male Artist, Brad Paisley, will be joined on stage in North Platte by its Male Vocalist of the Year, Blake Shelton, on June 24, 2011. Also joining the lineup will be Kansas native, Jerrod Niemann, who was nominated as the CMA's New Artist of the Year. Paisley/Shelton general admission arena floor or general admission grandstand tickets are $59.00 each. All taxes and fees are included in the price of the tickets. Hinder will headline the NEBRASKAland DAYS U.S. Cellular Summer Jam Rock Concert Series on Saturday, June 25, 2011. Joining them will be My Darkest Days. HInder/My Darkest Days general admission and grandstand seating tickets are $30.00 each. Golden Circle tickets are $50.00 each. Ticket prices increase $5.00 the day of the show.
