Do you prefer a straw or a felt cowboy hat? Also, which color do you prefer?

For me it depends on the time of the year. In the winter it a black felt Stetson, and in the summer its a straw Atwood.

both have different applications for me, black or my brown felt are always dress hat or a winter hat, my palm leaf and straws are sumer hats cause you can drench them in a trough or pond and stay cool and they stay formed. My pecan felt is my rodeo/ special events hat and my black felt hell i'll step out on the dane floor in only that

I, like most of you folks, have a black Stetson for winter and a white straw for summer. Plus I have a straw that used to be white, but is so old and beat-up it is hard to tell,,,,lol

Well I have a blue gray felt JB I've had fro years. But being down here in Az. It's a straw hat 99% of the time. My last straw was got at the Yuma feeds store and it has a 5" brim. A little extra shade down here dont hurt. I have another straw I got in Mexico a few years back and a couple of Vaquero sombreos that are wall hangers. I have one old beat up felt hat that Willy Nelson wore at the Austin city limits I wouldn't part with.

I have a couple of felt hats for when its cold and straw/palm leaf for when its summer. It gets to hot and humid here in Florida durining the summer for a felt hat.

I like and have both. I have felt in gray, brown and black. Straw I use most of the spring and summer in California. Gray felt is my "nice" hat. I use the black most often for health reasons even though it is hotter. The lighter colors reflect harmful light on to my skin. My Irish DNA does not do well even with sunblock so it is a beard on my face and my favorite hat on my head. Black felt

Around here, it seems to be a little cool except about 2 months out of the year! Black felt. Otherwise straw when its really hot.

I tend to wear a straw hat year round. Our winters are usually mild but if its too cold, I skip the hat all together and pull a knit cap on.

In the winter I wear my black felt with the nicest band. I had this latest hat for about 6 years now and it has shaped to fit my head perfectly. When the weather warms up...I go to my Stetson 20x. I love this hat. It looks worn to...but in a good way. Shaped well a little bit of sweat coming thru and yet I feel good wearing it to the bar with the boys or out to dinner with the ladies... If I go to town wearing my Carhart cap...nobody recognizes me...it's amazing.

I like a good Beaver felt for the winter and a nice straw hat for the summer. I was flabbergasted the other day though when I saw a hat that said it was a Stetson but had a made in China label - HAD TO BE A COUNTERFIT - or at least I hope so!
