Schofield or Peacemaker
If you lived in the old west and had a profession which used a gun, be it Ranger or Train Robber; Which of the two would you prefer at your hip? The Schofield with its break down action for quick reloading or the famous Colt Single Action which had more stopping power?
definetly colt , got to be able to stop em
I would choose the Schofield myself. The real difference in the guns was that the .45 S&W was a shorter cartridge which couldnt hold as many grains of powder as the .45 Colt. But if I had to be firing from horseback, Id like a chance at reloading.
There is little difference in stopping power between Schofield in .45 Schofield and the .45 long Colt in the Single action Army Colt. The difference is accuracy. Stopping power is meaningless if you cain't hit whatcher aimin' at Pardner. The Schofield was more accurate than the Colt. My pick is the Schofield
I would say Colt . Stopping power is everything.
I would have to say a Colt single action, quick reloading is not everything, But stopping power is.

It may be worth mentioning that in those days, ammo was more scarce and valuable. In addition to that fact, the colt could fire BOTH .45 schofield (or s&w) and .45 colt. Wheras the schofield could not. So having a colt might mean more rounds for the shootout. Hmmm, I think it might matter too wether you were a bad guy or a good guy. I like the idea of fast reloading if I were often chased....but anyhow, the cartridge versatility has my vote going to the colt.
